The day dawned bright and sunny for this year’s RNLI fun day at Mudeford in Christchurch, which is held to raise funds to help run the lifeboat station at the popular tourist spot.
The main event of the day’s activities is the highly prized raft race. The pressure was on our Coastal Garden Buildings team as they had a convincing victory the year before. Did they think they could repeat their success? Of course!
After hours of construction the raft was ready, and the team gathered at the quay to wait patiently for the races to begin. Skippered by Richard but captained by Fran (well she had a hat that said so!!) the team were in safe hands.
In their first heat the team had a great race and came in second, with Thomas Tripp coming in first.

Unfortunately, in their second heat they had started to drift out to sea and had to be towed back by the RNLI, so had a lot of ground to make up so didn’t make the final this year.
Thoughts are already on next year’s event. Can we be victorious again?
