Home Gyms

Home gym or garden gym with exercise equipment in

No more needing to go to the gym – bring the gym home to you. Create a bespoke exercise space that is designed to your exact needs, right on your doorstep, making it easier to fit exercise into your daily routine.

Your home gym can be tailored to precisely the equipment you need, as well as being a dual-purpose space for either working or relaxing at home.

Do you love cycling? Rowing, or the treadmill? Any of this equipment can easily fit into our bespoke, expertly hand-built to order Hut garden room. Fully insulated, your home gym can be used all year round so you can work out, even in winter. French double doors and fixed windows provide sufficient ventilation, especially in the summer months. You can even add a decked area outside to use for warm-up and stretching in warmer weather.

Do I need planning permission for a home gym?

Generally, no. A standard garden building under 2.5m high is unlikely to need planning permission. However, if you’re planning on weightlifting or boxing-based training, you may need a higher ceiling than standard. You will also need to think about groundworks, like a reinforced concrete base and rubber matting inside to absorb any weights you drop down. Punchbags and pull up bars will need to be hung from reinforced joists, not just standard ones. It’s always best to check with your local authority before commissions your installation.

Home gym essentials

The Hut comes with fully lined and painted MDF walls and laminate flooring that’s easy to wipe down and keep clean. Just add an exercise mat for comfort.

An electrical package is included, as it’s likely you will need power for your home gym. With electricity for lighting, you can use your home gym during darker winter mornings and evenings. You may also want additional heating or air conditioning, to manage temperature extremes. The Hut comes with an infrared heater as standard.

Your exercise equipment may also need power. Less critical if you’re thinking about weights, but if you want to use your Peloton interactive screen or have a TV on the wall for your Joe Wicks workout, then power is essential. If you want to tap into online training or motivation, you’ll also need decent wifi. Various options are available, such as wifi boosters or laying cables.
